I love the contrasts in this picture; the lush vibrancy of the grass seems the perfect background for the bleak, solidity of the bench seat and as the eye travels along the length of the planks, the missing ones at the back add a pleasing, somewhat rebellious note to the overall flavour of the photograph. Trousers sent me this beautiful photo on the same day as I announced on my main blog that my novel 'Without Alice' is going to be published by Bluechrome. I can imagine Stephen sitting on this bench in quiet solitude and pondering the concept of life without Alice.
