My absolute favourite of this series

This inviting bench will be making a literary appearance in my next novel!

A not very scarey scarecrow keeps this bench company

I love side views of benches and the long shot of this bench near the calm water's edge, makes me long to sit there and be at peace for a while

I hope someone has plans to restore this unique bench. I have an urge to 'rescue' it and give it a home in our garden!

A little photographic magic by the lovely Tom Foolery. She created this photo in celebration of the fact that my first fiction novel 'Without Alice' will be published in 2009. Thank you TF!
I love the contrasts in this picture; the lush vibrancy of the grass seems the perfect background for the bleak, solidity of the bench seat and as the eye travels along the length of the planks, the missing ones at the back add a pleasing, somewhat rebellious note to the overall flavour of the photograph. This photograph is here courtesy of my thoughtful friend at The Trouser Press

Trousers sent me this beautiful photo on the same day as I announced on my main blog that my novel 'Without Alice' is going to be published by Bluechrome. I can imagine Stephen sitting on this bench in quiet solitude and pondering the concept of life without Alice.
